How did Union Shopper start?
Union Shopper began operations over 30 years ago, in 1976, as an initiative of the Queensland Teachers Union to provide a discount purchasing service for members. This concept received instant and widespread support, and The Union Shopper Inc. was formed as a 100% union-owned organisation working exclusively for unions.
Our membership of affiliated union members has since expanded to over 1.2 million to produce greater benefits to members through our collective buying power. Part of Union Shopper's constitution rules as a not-for-profit organisation is the investments of any surplus to improve service to members, which continues to strengthen our presence throughout Australia and invigorate growth of our services for the benefit of all members.

The Union Shopper Inc. is a 100% union-owned organisation working exclusively for unions. Union Shopper is managed and supported by some of Australia's largest unions. Generally each affiliated union appoints a representative that forms a Management Committee. Our Executive Officer, responsible for the day-to-day operation of Union Shopper, reports to the Management Committee.
As a member based organisation Union Shopper helps all eligible union members save by providing competitive quotes from our merchants, and secondly by referring members directly to preferred suppliers.
Therefore by becoming a financial member of any of Union Shopper's affiliated or associated unions you are fully eligible for Union Shopper's services and contribute to this great service as both owners and users of the service.
